The Eastern Zone Finally Taking Shape in SLFA/SSO National U15 Tournament

The matches in the Eastern Zone of the SLFA/758 Saint Lucia Sports Online Inter District U15 Football Tournament continued today at the Micoud Playing Field with two matches taking place.

In the first encounter of the day Desruisseaux took on a Mabouya Valley side in impressive form. Mabouya remained the only unbeaten side in the group having won all six of their matches so far.

Mabouya went ahead in the 23rd minute when Peter Alfred scored from the spot. They then doubled their lead in the 40th minute thanks to a good finish from Naqwan Henry. Desruisseaux attempted valiantly to come back in the second half but Mabouya stood firm and resisted. The game finished 2-0.

In the second game of the day Micoud took on Dennery in a contest which would give an idea as to which team has the upper hand for the second qualification spot. Dennery started on the front foot thanks to their main man Torian Joseph who struck twice in the opening seven minutes. Joseph has undoubtedly been the star in the group stage games as he took his tally to 17 goals in 8 games. Levi Jn. Baptiste pulled one back for Micoud though in the 27th minute with a lovely downward header. The score at halftime was 2-1.

Micoud pressed for an equalizer and were duly rewarded in the 67th minute when Levi Jn. Baptiste scored again. None of the teams could get another goal in this contest and the game ended 2-2. Dennery end the group stage with 14 points. Micoud have 11 points with two games remaining.

The action continues on Tuesday February 28th as Desruisseaux take on Mon Repos from 5:00 p.m. at the Micoud Playing Field.
