The IMG sporting facility in Bradenton Florida will come alive on August 13th 2017, as it welcomes the CONCACAF fraternity and host the confederation’s biannual Under 15 Championship.

The Saint Lucian national team sits in group D of this tournament and will do battle against the likes of St. Kitts and Nevis, Guyana and Suriname. In recent months, the technical team of the under 15, spearheaded by manager Vincent Boland and head coach St.Croix ‘Vaso’ Albert,  have been toiling indefatigably to get the boys conditioned for such a top tier competition. The boys have been progressing steadily, recording victories across the island against various district teams above their age group.

As the start date of the competition draws near, the technical team have now become tasked with arranging the logistics associated with the tournament. Since the competition will be hosted in the United States of America, entry visas for the players and technical team alike need to be organized. Hence, the team will first travel together to Barbados so that visas can be secured through the Embassy of the United States in Bridgetown. Thinking proactively, manager Vincent Boland has ensured that the trip to Barbados will serve a dual role. After their engagements at the embassy, it has been arranged for the team to contest the Barbados Under 15 in an international friendly match which would aid in complementing the team’s preparation process. The game would provide the technical team with an outstanding opportunity to gauge the boys against an international opponent and still afford for them the opportunity to analyse and refine playing tactics.

The national under 15 team is expected to spend 3 days in Barbados. The cost incurred by The Saint Lucia Football Association Inc. for flights and accommodation during this tour was curbed through aid granted to the association by cooperate St. Lucia. One of the more significant donations was monetary contribution of an amount exceeding ten thousand dollars ($10,000) given by Bank of Saint Lucia International Limited (BOSLIL). The philanthropic move was warmly welcomed by the SLFA and the governing body of football on the island has expressed great gratitude to the financial institution for their contribution. The cheque was received on  Thursday June 29th, 2017 by the team manager Mr. Vincent Boland on behalf of the national U15 team and by extension the entire SLFA.
