Island Wide U13 Competitions

As the SLFA football season comes to a close, the association remains intent on tying up the loose ends of the CONCACAF club licensing process.

The SLFA, as the chief governing body of football on the island has already facilitated CONCACAF D license courses in an effort to equip each club with a professionally trained coach. The association has also been relentless in its drive to sensitize its affiliates on the importance of club licensing and has conducted numerous workshops and seminars with the sole purpose of assisting clubs with the process. The SLFA has, on countless occasions reiterated its intention to only recognize clubs which have at least acquired the CONCACAF provisional license in the 2018 season.

In consolidation of the SLFA’s endeavour to assist clubs in fulfilling the club licensing requirements, the association has organized Under 13 competitions in each league around the island. The competition will feature clubs within the leagues who will compete in 7v7 games on fields specifically marked within dimensions to facilitate the participants. Leagues are to host their tournaments concurrently with a slated commencement of December 10th, 2017. The format of the tournaments may vary per league according to the number of participating clubs. All leagues should have their competitions concluded by 21st December, 2017.

The primary objective of these competitions is to assist clubs in solidifying or establishing their grassroots teams. It is obligatory, under the statues of club licensing that each club should have a firm base or a grassroots team. The SLFA anticipates the participation of every club registered under its affiliates; as participation in this tournament would also serve as a determinant to which clubs would be recognized by the association in 2018.
